Mini-Nubian
Goats
(Herd Tested CAE & Johnes Free, March 2006)
Mini Nubians were created so that you could have a Nubian in a smaller package. It is the product of breeding a Nigerian Dwarf and a Nubian together. Variations of combinations are made with the breedings until you get the Nubian breed characteristics and and small size together. It takes a lot of time, and can be frustrating, but fun!
Since we already had an established herd of quality
Nigerians, I didn't really "need" any more goats ! But after seeing mini-nubians on a
Nigerian website, I just had to have one! Who could resist those long ears, and sweet expressions, especially in a small package! So my quest to find a breeder began. Luckily, I found two people in Georgia.
Angela Cummings of Patchwork Acres, in Albany, had started a quality herd of minis. Her mini bucks were from some of the best mini lines in the U.S and she bred them to several of the best purebred Nubian does available in the area. We were thrilled to have been able to purchase two bred does from her and two beautiful kids. We are eagerly
awaiting the arrival of 75%/25% 2nd generation kids!

Thanks, Angela, for sharing this great picture with us!
We were so tickled with these girls, that we decided to get a few more! A trip to Monroe,
GA resulted in a trip that changed our lives. We had already spent the day driving and looking at chickens, but we made the trip to Monroe to look at the minis. We were so glad that we did.
There, we had the pleasure of meeting Melinda Lewis of Mel-Dia Caprines. She had a lovely herd of purebred Nubians and several adorable minis. As we looked through the herd, a brown
Nubian kept either chewing on my pant leg or hand, wanting to be scratched. If I quit petting her, she would nudge me. Well, needless to say, we didn't come home with a mini, but a purebred Nubian doe, Mary. She has become the love our lives! Not only does she amuse us with her silly antics, she just loves people! Nothing pleases her more than to play with our children and eat
raisins! We could not thank Melinda enough for letting us have this sweet girl! We will go back to Monroe this spring to pick out mini babies !

We want to give Melinda
